The classic Mini Cooper Monte Carlo is back! At the 2026 Toy Fair, Tamiya presented the highly sought-after classic on the M-05 chassis as a re-release.
The Mini body first appeared in 1995 on an M-01 chassis, before the modernized version on the M-05 chassis appeared in 2011. The current reissue is exactly the same model, with only minor changes to the sticker sheet due to licensing restrictions.
The Tamiya RC model faithfully captures the fun and maneuverability of the original, thanks to the proven M-05 M-chassis platform. The M-05 is an easy-to-build, front-wheel-drive machine that allows for the installation of many aftermarket parts. The chassis consists of a lightweight, narrow, and robust plastic semi-monocoque frame.
The gearbox, motor, battery pack, receiver, servo, and speed controller are positioned for optimal weight distribution and a low center of gravity. The independent double wishbone suspension and three-piece steering linkage ensure stable cornering at high speeds. This kit builds the chassis with a 210 mm wheelbase. However, it can be built with three different wheelbases to accommodate other M-Chassis bodies.
